    Welcome

Meyonohk school is nestled in the community of Lakewood within the greater community of Millwoods. The school opened in 1981.  Meyonohk translated from the Cree language means "a nice place to be."

Meyonohk is an elementary school that offers a regular English program and a Chinese (Mandarin) bilingual program.  Students in grades 4-6 regular English program receive French as a second language. We believe that our school provides an inviting, physically and psychologically safe environment in which to learn and work. It truly is a nice place to be!

We lease space to Morning Star Before and After School Care Program.

Principal's Message

Welcome to Meyonohk!  We offer regular English programming and a Chinese (Mandarin) bilingual program.  Our Kindergarten to grade 6 environment fosters student leadership, mutual respect, modeling of excellent citizenship and acceptance of all students.  Meyonohk students demonstrate a responsible and cooperative attitude which is most evident in the manner they respond to the challenge of the high expectations we hold for their academics and behavior.  Our school is also focused on “Making the Healthy Choice the Easy Choice” by promoting quality daily physical fitness activities and by supporting healthy eating.

Student learning is enhanced through the use of home and community resources.  As we engage in learning activities with our students, we seek ways to incorporate guest speakers and community resources into our instruction.  We believe these partnerships not only help make learning meaningful but also allows students to appreciate a variety of career pathways that they may not have been exposed to before.  If you are willing to work with our students please contact our school office at 780.463.7627 Thank you.

We encourage our current families to check SchoolZone regularly for school news, class news and division news.

The learning environment is enriched with all of us working together.  I look forward to engaging experiences with our school community in the months ahead!
