Grades 1-6Registration information
As a member of Edmonton Public Schools, we accept all students who reside within the Edmonton city limits, provided they meet the appropriate registration deadlines.
Both the English Core program and the Mandarin Bilingual program are currently accepting registrations for the 2010-2011 school year.
Our English Core Program follows the Alberta Education curriculum, including French as a Second Language programming beginning in grade four. In addition to the core subjects of Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science, students receive instruction in music, physical education and art. This program provides service primarily to students residing in the Meyonohk community.
The Meyonohk community includes areas north of 23rd avenue, south of 28th avenue, west of Millwoods Road and east of 91 street. Students in these areas, as well as students from any other area in the city of Edmonton, are encouraged to register as early as possible to ensure placement for the following September. Registration for the 2010-2011 school year begins in April 2010.
Kindergarten Registrations for the both the regular and the Chinese Mandarin Bilingual Program are accepted beginning on February 1st for the following September.
The Chinese Mandarin Bilingual program follows the Alberta Curriculum. It differs from the English core program in that students take fifty percent of their school day with instruction in the Mandarin language. Subjects taught in Mandarin include Chinese Mandarin Language Arts, math, physical education and art (K-3 students) and Chinese Mandarin Language Arts, Social Studies, physical education and art (Gr 4-6).
The program is open to all students in Kindergarten or Grade 1 who wish to participate in the program. New students in grade 2 or higher are only accepted if they already have a basic proficiency in the Mandarin language.
As this program is limited to two classes at each grade level, students are accepted on a first-come basis, we encourage you to register as early as possible.
As an alternative program under Edmonton Public Schools, bussing is available for students in the Chinese Bilingual Program who reside in the school's transportation zone. That zone includes families living on the south side of Edmonton, except those living in the Riverbend community.
