Principal's Message for February
Principal’s Message
This month has been a beehive of activity around Meyonohk School. Students and staff continue to amaze me with the kinds of learning displayed every day at our school.
As you know, I sent out a parent survey last week, and I sincerely thank you for your thoughtful feedback. Your input is very valuable to us! We may not be perfect, but we certainly are better because of you. Sometimes parents share a piece of information that we may not have considered and it truly is appreciated!
We have 10 dedicated learners in our adult Mandarin classes on Wednesday nights. Half of the class is made up of parents and the other half staff. I am in the class and feel that I am learning something valuable every time! We certainly do laugh a lot, and it is a good reminder for us what it is like for people learning a new language.
Our Reading Project is off to a great start! We have 12 volunteers this year, reading with children on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. This group will make a world of difference to the children they work with! Thank you to all who come out to help our children.
Our character trait for January has been respect! This is a good time to set goals for the rest of the year. Children can discuss with parents and teachers how they can reach all of the goals they set for themselves.
Kindergarten Registration will begin February 1st at 9 a.m. in the Art/Science Room. If you know of people with Kindergarten age children for 2010-2011, please share this information with them.
GONG XI GONG XI! The tiger will ROAR! We wish all of our Chinese Families a wonderful New Year! Our assembly will be held Friday Febraury 12th followed by the traditional Fortune Lunch! I hope you have a chance to spend some fun times with your family and friends! Then, of course, some of us pretend to be Chinese at this time of year, so Happy New Year to us all!
Marilyn Solesbury.
